Pete Gertonson is a lifelong Idahoan who grew up watching hardworking families get squeezed by rising costs while the Legislature remained focused elsewhere. He has spent his career in Nez Perce County, close to the people who make Idaho work, and he is running because he believes the gap between those who govern and those who are governed has grown too wide.

I’m an advocate for “No Grocery Tax” and “Raising the Minimum Wage.” Both are possible.
Eliminate the Grocery Tax
Idaho is one of the few states that still taxes groceries at the full rate. Families at every income level pay this tax on every trip to the store. Removing it is the most direct, immediate relief the Legislature can deliver. Pete will make this a priority from day one.
Raise the Minimum Wage
A full-time worker in Idaho should not have to choose between rent and groceries. The current minimum wage has not kept pace with the cost of living. Pete supports a pathway to raising it in a way that works for Idaho businesses and Idaho families alike. This is not a partisan issue. It is a practical one.
Everyday Economic Priorities
Housing affordability, healthcare access, and support for small businesses are the concerns Pete hears most from neighbors across District 7. He will bring those conversations directly into the Idaho House, pushing for legislation grounded in what people actually experience, not what party platforms dictate.
Good Government Over Party
Pete believes Idaho voters deserve a representative who puts sound governance above political loyalty. That means honest debate, transparent decision-making, and accountability to constituents first. He will represent you with common sense and humility in the Idaho Legislature.
